Recruiting analyst tells Kernel that Wall isn’t “a story”

The Kentucky Kernel’s Metz Camfield talked to Rivals’ Jerry Meyer, one of the more respected recruiting analysts around.

And Meyer thinks the John Wall eligibility issue is a definite non-story.

Meyer told Camfield:

“That’s why I don’t think it’s a story,” Meyer said. “UK is doing their due diligence. Unless something happened beyond the obvious fact that they played for Clifton, it’s not a story. Are they going to rule everyone who played for D-One Sports ineligible? Everyone knew he was an agent. It’s just odd to me.”

    John,

Let’s all be realistic. We knew that when we got back to our historic spot at the top of the charts in college basketball, people would start bringing the Hate. It actually feels good to matter that much to people now – even if it’s on the opposite end of the BBN’s feelings.

Why isn’t anyone stating the obvious, ESPN (the arm of the ACC) is making this an issue, because they see UNC & Duke not being mentioned in the National championship hunt (Kansas & UK are). Digger Phelps hatred of UK (because he couldn’t beat us)has permeated that network so much so that it literally gives them angst to see UK @ the top again, so happy when they’re not. For some reason they think Rupp is still coaching & the schools programs are racist. The last time I check UNC nor Duke have had an African American coach. Continue to hate we’ll hang #8.

it is amazing to me…this is a non-story…why would ESPN why to “hate” on UK after signing the SEC/ESPN pact (of which UK would bring huge ratings)…it benefits ESPN to have UK talented and without blemish…as for Digger and Pat Forde, that sort of bias will always be there…as will the unfortunate “racist” label (funny how lies can become truth if you say them enough times)…Calipari leaving programs “wrecked” is laughable…Memphis shouldn’t be punished for the Derrick Rose incident, and if they are then something should be done at the top of the NCAA to instill some common sense… Calipari has never been accused of any wrongdoing (albeit not by anyone who matters at the NCAA) and the compliance department of UK is widely recognized as being extremely vigilant and unmoved in their quest for complete compliance by all sports teams within the University…so it is left for the little maggots like Pat Forde to stir up something by getting the SEC’s top guy to open his mouth when he shouldn’t have…notice of course, how nothing is mentioned (or very little) about Renardo Sidney (who actually does have some amateurism issues) since Wall has taken up most of the “double talk” provided us by the “haters”…if Wall is punished then it opens the door to every Clifton recruit (between 2007-08) being punished (Ryan Kelly anyone?) and even when Wall is exonerated, there will still be those who will continue to use it as a springboard to condemn UK with the usual vitriolic nonsense of “cheaters” and “paid for their team” blah blah blah…those haters are nothing more than a living example of the failings of our educational system… putz’…..and please, Pat Forde…go away

I was saying the same thing at Dynasty Defenders just this morning. Wall will be eligible but it will be down to the wire and create a lot of paranoia as it was intended to do when Forde and ESPN took the sodium pentathol words of Mike Slive from the SEC office when he should have kept his mouth shut
