Where UK basketball recruits stand to this point

There’s such a blizzard of information out there about basketball recruiting, it’s hard to keep it all straight. So here’s a roundup of what we know, or what we think we know, about UK basketball recruits to this point. (Feel free to add any additional information.) In alphabetical order:

Tobias Harris

  • Attended Kentucky’s Big Blue Madness on Oct. 16.
  • Says he will visit Georgia Tech at some point.
  • Reports are he will also visit Louisville, West Virginia and Maryland.
  • May visit Louisville on Nov. 1.
  • Made official visit to Tennessee, which painted his image on a rock.
  • Has visited Syracuse.
  • Ranked as No. 5 player in Class of 2010 by Rivals.
  • A 6-8 forward from Glen Head, New York.

Kyrie Irving

  • Confirmed that he will make his choice on ESPNU on Thursday.
  • Will choose between Duke, Texas A&M and Kentucky.
  • Dave Telep of Scout.com reports that Irving will make announcement on Thursday.
  • Zagsblog reports on Oct. 20 that Irving has committed to Duke with an announcement coming this week.
  • Irving denies Zagsblog report via his Twitter account.
  • Attended Kentucky’s Big Blue Madness on Oct. 16
  • Has already visited Texas A&M and Duke.
  • Has said he will visit Georgia Tech at some point.
  • Has said he will visit Seton Hall.
  • Was thought to be a lean toward Indiana at one point, but eliminated Hoosiers.
  • His family is close to UK assistant coach Rod Strickland.
  • Ranked No. 9 in Class of 2010 by Rivals.
  • A 6-3 guard from Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Terrence Jones

  • Is expected to attend Kentucky’s Blue-White game on Oct. 28.
  • Mother says her son has eliminated Kansas and Arizona.
  • Will visit UCLA on Nov. 6.
  • May take unofficial visit to Oregon on Oct. 31.
  • Attended Washington’s basketball Madness on Oct. 16.
  • Made official visit to Oklahoma on Oct. 9.
  • Rated as the No. 13 player in Class of 2010 by Rivals.
  • A 6-8 forward from Portland, Oregon.

Brandon Knight

  • Is reportedly considering Kansas, Connecticut, Kentucky, Florida, Miami and Syracuse.
  • Made official visit to Connecticut on Sept. 25.
  • Has already made an official visit to Kentucky.
  • Rated as No. 1 player in Class of 2010 by Rivals.
  • A 6-3 guard from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Doron Lamb

  • Is expected to visit Kentucky this weekend.
  • Attended Kansas “Late Night in the Phog” on Oct. 16.
  • His father, Calvin, told Arizona Daily Star that son has plans to visit Arizona.
  • Calvin Lamb to Arizona Daily Star on Kansas visit: “It was wild. But Doron’s got to worry about what happens with the team and the school in general.”
  • Ranked as No. 21 best player in Class of 2010 by Rivals.
  • A 6-4 guard who plays for Steve Smith at Oak Hill Academy.

C.J. Leslie

  • Was reported to be attending Kentucky’s Big Blue Madness on Oct. 16 but didn’t show.
  • Rivals still has Kentucky at the top of Leslie’s list.
  • Has had in-home visits from Kentucky, Florida, Maryland, Oregon, Ga. Tech, Georgetown, Seton Hall, N.C. State and Florida International.
  • Was a high school teammate of John Wall.
  • Ranked as No. 14 player in Class of 2010 by Rivals.
  • A 6-8 forward from Raleigh, North Carolina.

Adreian Payne

  • Visited West Virginia’s Mountaineer Madness on Oct. 16.
  • WVU is investigating whether signs and t-shirts made by Mountaineer Maniacs welcoming Payne may have been secondary NCAA violations.
  • Visited Arizona on Oct. 10.
  • Considering Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State and West Virginia.
  • Visited Michgian State on Oct. 3.
  • Visited Kentucky on Sept. 26.
  • Rated as the No. 20 player in Class of 2010 by Rivals.
  • A 6-10 center/forward from Dayton, Ohio.

Josh Selby

  • Attended Kansas’ “Late Night with Phog” on Oct. 16.
  • Mother told Lawrence Journal-World that Selby enjoyed visit but will make others.
  • Considering Kansas, Baylor, Kentucky, Indiana, Miami and Syracuse.
  • Was a teammate of Indiana commitment Victor Oladipo at DeMatha in neighboring Hyattsville, Md.
  • Transferred from DeMatha to Lake Clifton.
  • Was thought to be very interested in Connecticut but cut Huskies from list on Sept. 28.
  • Was once committed to Tennessee, but re-opened his recruitment.
  • Rated as No. 4 player in Class of 2010 by Rivals.
  • A 6-4 guard from Baltimore, Maryland.

    Why was it mentioned about possible secondary violations by West Virginia on the recruiting signs for Adrian Payne, but no questioning of recruiting signs by Duke? Why is everyone else held to a different standard than Duke by the NCAA? ESPN had pictures of Duke supporters hanging banners out the window for Kylie Irving during his visit and no a mention of possible violations. If Duke doesnt get in trouble, neither should WVU.
