Gary Danielson

With the Tennessee-Florida expected Lane Kiffin bloodbath being the game that kicks off CBS’ SEC schedule, Media Approval Ratings locks in on Gary Danielson, the former Purdue and Detroit Lions’ quarterback who is the color man for CBS’ broadcasts.

What say you on Gary Danielson, thumbs up or thumbs down?

What say me??? i am a avid sports fan and listen to all commentators and by far Gary Danielson is the number 1 commentator in all of sports and no one gets me more excited for a game or shares as much insight about the game.

I watched the LSU-Florida game on CBS last week and found Gary Danielson’s commentary all but unbearable. Although employed as a television announcer he has no command of diction whatever. He is apparently constitutionally incapable of pronouncing the lettter “g” in the participle “ing”. Thus his constant chatter was filled with thousands of instances of truncated English: runnin’, throwin’, tacklin’, thinkin’, blockin’, sayin. etc., etc. As to the word “something”, Danielson utters what sounds like “sump-in”. “Going to” is “gawna”. Awful. The contrast with Vern Lundquist’s professional articluation couldn’t have been starker. Maybe Mr. Danielson is poorly educated; or perhaps CBS requires him to sound like a hick because they view the football audience as hayseeds and yokels.
