We’re 19 days away from the UK-Miami of Ohio opener, Sept. 5 at Paul Brown Stadium.
Today we’re going to see how the 2005 UK recruiting class, those who would be redshirt seniors this year, did.
Here ais the 2005 recruiting class:
- E.J. Adams: Wide receiver from Stone Mountain, Ga. left the team for personal reasons after two years as a cornerback and one year as a wide receiver. Caught 14 passes for 180 yards last year in his one season as a wide out.
- James Alexander: The offensive lineman from Atlanta, Ga. was a vauable backup, though he made just two starts in his career. Decided to give up his final year of eligibility.
- Ben Bates: Fullback from Plain City, Ohio played in three games before leaving team after the 2007 season.
- Sefo Blaylock: Offensive guard from Salt Lake City played in four games as a redshirt freshman in 2006, then left team in 2007.
- Ross Bogue: Tight end from Suwanee, Ga. has played in 39 games over past thee years, with one career catch. Is still looking for his first start.
- Mike Cross: Lineman from Columbus, Ohio never played in a game for UK. Was not resigned after playing junior college football.
- Zipp Duncan: The offensive tackle enters his redshirt senior year as an All-SEC possibility. Has appeared in 38 career games with 26 starts. Started all 13 games last year as left guard. Moved to left tackle in spring.
- DeMoreo Ford: Injury ended career of LaGrange, Ga. native during his redshirt junior year. Caught 23 passes in his career, including a key 70-yard touchdown grab in 2006 Music City Bowl.
- Jorge Gonzalez: The center from Tampa, Fla. should be the starter this season, though he is sitting out the first game because of a suspension. Started all 13 games at center last year.
- Corey Goodson: Running back/defensive back from Louisville Western never played in a game for UK.
- Zach Hennis: Offensive tackle from Plain City, Ohio left team after his sophomore season.
- Jammal Jackson: Linebacker from Cordele, Ga. never played in a game for UK.
- Jeremy Jarmon: Defensive end from Colliersville, Tenn. had to give up his final year after testing positive for banned substance after taking an over-the-counter supplement. But was a third-round pick of Washington Redskins in NFL Supplemental Draft. Madee 32 starts and had 17.5 career sacks over three seasons.
- Ventrell Jenkins: Defensive lineman from Columbia, South Carolina closed out college career by returning fumble for winning touchdown in UK’s bowl victory over East Carolina. Started all 13 games at defensive end in 2008. Finished his career with 9.5 sacks in 46 games.
- Christian Johnson: The offensive guard from Ft. Campbell redshirted last year because of academics. He appeared in all 13 gaames in 2008. Started the final 12 games at left guard in 2006. Played in final 10 games as true freshman.
- David Jones: Swift cornerback from Belfry High School. Before last season his only two starts were at wide receiver. But started all 13 games at corner last year, his senior year, and made 34 tackles with one interception.
- Braxton Kelley: Four-year starter at linebacker who ended up with 40 career starts. The LaGrange, Ga. native started seven games as true freshsman before season-ending knee injury. Made big stop against LSU in 2007 win over the eventual national champions.
- Tim Masthay: The Murray native handled the punting duties all four seasons, and averaged 45.2 yards per kick last year. Invaluable on kickoffs where he had a high ratio of touchbacks.
- Sam Maxwell: The Hartwell, Ga. native is expected to be the starter at strongside linebacker this season. Has played in 38 career games, with four starts.
- Jordan Nevels: Free safety from Ft. Thomas played nine games as a reshirt sophomore before leaving team after 2007 season. Did intercept a pass in 2007.
- Curtis Pulley: Quarterback from Hopkinsville was dismissed from the team before start of 2008 season. Redshirted in 2007 because of academic difficulties. Played in nine games as true freshman, with one start, and 13 games as a sophomore. Also played some wide receiver. Caught 21 passes in 2006.
- Mike Schwindel: The linebacker from Hancock County was forced to give up football last season because of injury. Played in a total of 24 games over his career.
- Alfonso Smith: The redshirt senior from Louisville Waggener has rushed for 712 career yards. Best game was a 92-yard rushing and 57-yard receiving effort at Mississippi State in 2006. Rushed for 313 yards last season.
- Kenny Ray Turner: Offensive lineman from Trigg County never played in a game for UK.
- Garry Williams: The offensive tackle from Louisville Seneca started 39 games over four seasons, including 11 last year. Missed two because of injury. Had a string of 27 consecutive starts. Played in eight games as true freshman, including last three as a starter.


Not a lot of Stars, but a lot of SOLID collegiate players. Very deep.
