100 things Kentucky fans should do before they die?

Evan Woodbery of the Mobile Press-Register has just published a book entitled “100 Things Auburn Fans Should Know and Do Before They Die.”

Dawgsports, a Georgia blog, is happy to offer 10 things it thinks an Auburn fan should do before death.

7. Deal with the fact that Bo Jackson was the second-best SEC running back of the 1980s to wear the number 34.

But, in a more serious vein, how about a bucket list for Kentucky fans?

Let’s hear your ideas for 100 things Kentucky fans should do before they die?

You don’t have to give me a full 100. One or two will do.

Update: There are a ton of these books.

To at least attend one game at rupp, one football game at commonwealth, read at least one bio on each coach that ever coached those sports

Up close and personal with the team for the week and Hey, it’s in Maui.

Cry when you think of the Bluegrass Miracle.
Get chills when you think of the second Bluegrass Miracle.
Claim you never left during the 2008 Arkansas game (and deny it when somebody says they saw you stuck in traffic during the fourth quarter).
Bow down whenever anybody says the name, “Tim Couch.”
Experience a UK football related heart attack.
    Witness a victory over Tennessee.

Find a way to sit in a dark, empty Memorial Coluseum. Just think about what those walls have seen and it will give you goosebumbs.

    1. Read The Thin Thirty by Shannon Ragland;
    2. Attend the SEC Mens Basketball tourney;
    3. Follow the Cats to a mid-tier bowl game in a less than convenient place, just to show you are a real fan.

See a game in Memorial Coluseum. Of course, last years NIT game against UNLV, which I saw and thought was incredible, may be the last one invovling the men. But the women still play there I think (I don’t live in Lex, so if I’m wrong, sorry). Remember that before Rupp, this was the long time home of those great Wildcat teams.

Attend an SEC Tourney with the team (this is an easy one for an Atlanta resident).

Attend a “holiday” (like one person above mentioned, Maui) tourney with the team (I have yet to do this).

See a Final Four with the team (I did this, but I went to the only one we lost the first game of during the 90′s).

See the Cats in a Bowl Game (I need to do this – how about a Peach Bowl this year guys).

Attend a bowl game outside of the state of Tennessee.

Eat a biscuits n’gravy breakfast at Mom’s Diner in Red Lion, OH. Place is owned by a huge Cats Fan, adorned with UK memorabilia & knick knacks all over. Let Hilda (Mom) know you’re a cat Fan. Better hurry though, place is closing soon. (Disclosure – I have no financial interest in Mom’s – it’s just a great place).

    1. Sit mid court lower level for a UK basketball game
    2. Sit on the 50 yard line front 10 rows for a UK football bowl game (checked off my list accidently!)
    3. Witness in person a win over Louisville in basketball and football in the same year
    4. Attend a UK Final Four game
    5. Attend a UK Championship win (coming soon)
    6. Sit in Bill Keightly’s chair (even if just a second)
    7. Spit in Rick Pitino’s eye

I can go on and on with these

When you’re a kid sneak into Memorial and play Saturday morning basketball until you get chased out by the coaches.

    Get a player’s chinstrap after a game.

Go to Knoxville and watch the Cats win.

Wear your “Are we that good, or are you that bad” t-shirt and know that we’re that good.

Face the unfortunate fact that the Kentucky football will always be a second-tier SEC program and likewise will never be a consistent winner.

Even through down cycles (2006-09), appreciate just how lucky you are to be a UK basketball fan.
