Had Tebow not voluntarily given that info out during an interview sometime back, there would be no interest or reason to ask questions about it now.
Personally, I don’t think the line of questioning is appropriate, but I think he kind of opened the door for it. On the other hand, he handled it like a pro.
John,
I am interested in your perspective on the Tebow thing. Unlike most people, I don’t think the question was all that inappropriate. Tebow has made his faith a part of his public persona. No matter how noble his intentions, Tebow admittedly trades on his fame to do the other things he wants to do in life. That is a double edged sword.
It is a testament to his legend that with all the hubuhb, no one seems to question that his response was truthful. He is both a devout Christian and one of the biggest BMOCs in the history of the college campus. It is an interesting situation that the rest of us will never find ourselves in. How he deals with that is something people might like to know.
I guarantee we’ll see mainstream media mention this like they did so often about A.C. Green. Would I have asked the question myself? No, I would have been mortified. But that doesn’t make it a bad question.
The idiot that asked the question should be emptying trash cans at AOL now. Just because someone shows a love for God doesn’t mean he should be asked personal questions about his life.
Wouldn’t it have been interesting if some of the writers assembled there had asked the players if they had ever smoked marijuana? Wonder what their answers would have been?
I think Tebow is a once in a life time christian athlete that make a sports writer look like the fool he is. No hesitation in his answer. just a straight forward answer.
Seems anyone who wants to get ahead any more thinks being stupid is the way to go.
Alex, I don’t have a problem with the question (asked by blogger Clay Travis) because Tebow has talked openly about his faith and those sorts of issues. And Tebow gave his answer without hesitation, as Tom said.
I heard Tebow is going to wear a giant rainbow wig under his helmet this year.
