Debate over Cal’s contract? I read the opinion piece. I don’t see a debate. What I see is you making the case for the writer, Clay. You sensationalize a headline and link to an opinion column that is neither here nor there. It’s tough to call a guy who thinks the H-L drags out a basketball story to sell papers a debate. That’s exactly what you do. I worked at the H-L for a few years. I know that an above-the-fold mention of UK basketball sells papers. Apparantly, it can also be used to suck people into pi$s-poor blogs, too.

Give Cal a raise! They don’t take away academic scholarships if they do and he is even making April and May exciting!

Thanks to Mitch for bringing us the coach I wanted two years ago! It was worth the wait.

Patterson made it official. Life is good under Coach Cal….even if he can’t walk on water!

A debate triggered by an obsessive need for the media to appear politically sensitive during a recession period. The fact is it is still a free market. Each coach is an independent contractor whose talents are proportional to their pay. For the LHL to continue to give this story some type of legs is nothing but a weak attempt to address an underlying rumbling within he faculty and staff of the University, as well as the micro scope from outside the bluegrass.

It seems to me that the LHL continuing to give this story legs, is like the proverbial relief of excrement where you sleep. Cal sales copy…and LHL knows it, but continue to be critical and you may find your pass in the locker room doesn’t work anymore.

Any media will tell you it’s better to report from within than from a far. John you guys are treading on a razor which you should get off of..now.

Well I would actually agree with the 30 plus million dollar salary if the following things were true. UK’s academic sector had a surplus this year, the economy was going great, and UK was sure this time about the coach.

If I remember right UK had money problems on the academic section of the campus while the sports department had plenty. Oh if the economy is doing great than that would be a surprised considering all the news I’m hearing. And no I am not sold on this new coach because he not coached any games yet. All this recruiting and appearances is a bunch of buzz to me. He is already getting old and tiring.
