Here is my column for tomorrow’s paper.
And:
- UK has confirmed that Calipari has signed an 8-year contract.
- There is a 9:30 a.m. press conference on Wednesday, but no pep rally is scheduled.
Kentucky sports and beyond.
Here is my column for tomorrow’s paper.
And:
Great column John, what we come to expect from you.
Here is a great feature, first rate, on the “history” between Rick Pitino and John Calipari and why it went south:

I want a pep rally!!!!!
John, you did a great job keeping everyone informed and manning this blog ship. You publish the comments, good and bad (unlike one of your colleagues) and sure I appreciate the work you did these last few days.
I hope this works out for UK. GO BIG BLUE!!
I still can’t find any mention of Jodi Meeks being named a second team all american yesterday – not on the sports page, the UK basketball page or any of the 3 sports writers blogs.
Please John, end the silence.
Hey — I saw the H-L’s bio of Calipari online. I believe the birthplace is “Sewickley,” not “Strickly.” I don’t think there even is a town in PA called Strickly. Sewickley is right across the river from Moon Township, where he went to school.
(This from someone who grew up in nearby Mars, PA — we residents of towns with goofy astronomical names are sensitive about town-name accuracy.)
John-
Why are you dis’ing Orton? Isn’t he more than highly regarded enough to not get this treatment? Isn’t it the case that Cousins might not end up at UK and Orton will start and be great? Has Cousins even qualified academically?
Orton was Kentucky when Kentucky wasn’t cool. I want him on our team.
Hey John, do you have a copy of the actual contract and could you post a PDF on your blog? Thanks!
I don’t have one, but as soon as I do I will post it.
