I won’t be in Oxford tonight for UK-Ole Miss. Like you, I’ll be at home watching the Cats and Rebels on the tube. And I’ll be liveblogging, where hopefully you’ll join in on the discussion, starting around 6:30 p.m.

Coach Kennedy did his homework and defensively figured out what to do to shut Meeks down. I am surprised that Coach G. didn’t come back in the second half with a game plan to get Meeks more open looks at the basket.
This loss is Tubby’s fault. Kentucky only has a two man team and zero five star recruits. The cupboard is truly barren. Looks like one and done again for March Madness. Looks like the SEC is a bottom feeder, just ask coach Brooks.
I don’t understand why Liggins and Miller are allowed to keep shooting 3′s when they have such a low shooting percentage, especially early in the shot clock. Porter is much more patient about trying to get the ball to Meeks or Patterson or Stevenson. Why did he leave Liggins in when he had such poor shot selection? Also, I didn’t see him really working to get the ball down low.
I was at the game in oxford. the crowd was not a factor, it was poorly attended.
rebels came to play BUT they were flat hot from 3 point line. this was what i was afraid auburn would do to us – AU just could not hit. Very few teams can beat a team that gets HOT from 3 (can you say VMI?). maybe the reason they were hot is due to poor defense, but sometimes nothing works (just ask UT about meeks).
I actually think Liggins played better defense than i have seen him play – porter looked a step slow on defense. that being said, liggins looks horrible on offense. miller is getting there – his confidence seems to be growing but still needs to improve
Billy made NO adjustment when rebels came out of a 1H TV timeout in a box and one – not even at half time. Billy clearly likes to play his game and not make adjustments – when you win that is ok, when you lose, that sets you up for being criticized. we were up at half and played well the first couple of minutes of the second half – so until then it is hard to question why he made no adjustments.
it is interesting to hear every wonder why BCG did not play Porter more – just a couple of weeks ago, nobody wanted him to play at all!
In the heat of the loss, it is easy to lose faith in BCG due to him being out coached – however, we need to wait a few more games to see if we are that bad or if we just ran into a hot team (by the way, my wife, who knows NOTHING about sports and did not go to the game, was watching the memphis news and said “that red team hit everything they shot”)
This was a bad loss for a number of reasons.
1. It was to Ole Miss, a mediocre team at best, that has zero chance to make the NCAA’s unless they somehow win the SEC post season tournament.
2. To add insult to injury Ole Miss played without some of their better players.
3. The gains UK got in beating Tennessee and seeing Florida lose have been negated. All three teams now have one conference loss.
4. UK played well and worked very hard to break into the top 25. That work basically is now all for naught. People like Jeff Goodman and their ilk will shove it right up UK’s rear end next week, regardless of what happens on Saturday. It will be even more difficult now to break back into the poll.

As others have said, defense (or lack of same) is what cost them the game. It’s one thing to give up 85 points to a North Carolina, Louisville or Connecticut. It’s a horse of a different color to give up that many to Mississippi.
Oh well, they need to forget about this one and win the next three games, all at home. No excuses.

I am and always will be a UK fan but will NEVER be a BCG fan, does he not realize that every recruit in the US is watching his rude comments to ESPN at halftime? Tonight was a big step back in recruiting. He needs to apologize to the players, Dr. Todd, to Mitch Barnhart, and to every UK Fan. And while he is at it he needs to apologize to everyone for the technical in the UL game that cost us the game
