Could ex-Kentucky coach Tubby Smith meet up with current Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie in the NCAA Tournament?
That Joe Lunardi is such a devil.
ESPN’s chief bracketologist has his latest — though very, very early — brackets out, and Lunardi has Minnesota as a No. 8 seed and Kentucky a No. 9 seed in the Midwest Region. Lunardi has the two teams playing in Dayton, with the winner playing probably No. 1 seed Pittsburgh in the second round.
Wonder where Joe got that idea?

I was wondering if you or anyone else had caught this yet. This is sort of… funny, because we all know that the NCAA would be more than happy to set something up like that, no matter what they say.
This type of match up is a zero-win for Tubby Smith. If Tubby Smith and his gophers lose it is Tubbys’ fault. If no contract Billy Clyde and his mildcats lose, it is Tubbys’ fault, he left the bench bare. However, if both teams can not beat the ranked teams we might see a match up in the NIT.
s.smith, Contrary to popular opinion Tubby did not leave the bench bare (Crawford, Bradley, Meeks, Jasper etc.) but the team didn’t have the talent of some past Kentucky teams either. If MN and KY were to meet and KY were to lose it would be because MN was the better team on that day, just as they were against Louisville earlier this season.
