SEC links for Wednesday:
A discerning reader sent along this link to an Orlando Sentinel blog that contends SEC football in 2008 stinks like an Alabama pig farm. You’ll love the accompanying art.
- In the Huntsville Times, Gentry Estes writes that Alabama’s defense carries a long to-do list into Saturday’s SEC title game with Florida. It’s what makes this tilt so interesting: Bama’s rock’em-sock ‘em defense against Florida’s speed-oriented offense.
- Robbie Andreu of the Gainesville Sun points out the size difference between Alabama’s Terrence Cody and Florida’s Jeff Demps. There’s even a chart.
- In the AJC, via AP, comes the report on Georgia’s 67-63 loss to Western Kentucky in men’s hoops. Has been quite a week for the Hilltoppers. First the win over Louisville on Sunday. Now a beating of the Bulldogs.
- Can’t get enough Lane Kiffin news? Bryan Mullen of the Tennessean writes that the new Tennessee coach’s record doesn’t quite tell it all.
- Knoxville News-Sentinel columnist John Adams admits it’s not easy catching the SEC elite. Remember when Tennessee was in the SEC elite?
- David Brandt of the Clarion-Ledger writes about tonight’s matchup of old pals when Bob Huggins and West Virginia visit Andy Kennedy and Ole Miss.
- Also in the Tennessean, Maurice Patton writes that depth has returned to Vandy basketball. The Commodores defeated VCU 71-66 last weekend to win a Mexico tournament.
- In The State, Joe Person reports that Steve Spurrier has hired Woody McCorvey for his South Carolina staff. McCorvey was offensive coordinator on the now-departed Sylvester Croom’s staff at Mississippi State.
- In The Advocate, Joseph Schiefelbein writes that while everyone else is talking about staff changes at LSU, Les Miles is not joining in on the discussion. Still think, however, someone out there is going to snap up Tennessee’s John Chavis.
