The difference between Porter and Liggins initially looks somewhat similar to the discussion over Hartline and Cobb: one does not make mistakes and the other makes things happen. It is not necessarily an apples to apples comparison, due to the differences in the sports. It does give me a better understanding of those calling for Cobb to replace Hartline.
My question is whether, for football and basketball, the current players are the answer. I know Cobb’s height has been mentioned as a problem. With Newton and Mossakowski coming in next year and neither Cobb nor Hartline playing a full season, are Cobb and Hartline simply stop-gap measures for this season? Likewise, is Liggins the point guard of the future given questions about his shooting ability?
