Update: Here’s a post from the Bleacher Report saying that Gillispie will turn the Cats around, if he doesn’t get put on probation first.
Checking out the blogosphere:
(Someone claiming to be or using the name of or maybe it really is) ex-Cat Bobby Perry gives his opinons on the UK debacle at Kentuckysportsradio.com: “Granted Coach G doesn’t have a solid point guard this year but that is his own fault. He had a point Guard in Derrick Jasper. Why did Derrick leave? No one really knows except Derrick but I guarantee with my sack of marbles he didn’t leave because he was homesick.”
- Truzenzuzex at A Sea of Blue puts his analysis to the UNC loss: “Never in recent history has the end of a UK game felt so much like an act of mercy from God. Congratulations to the North Carolina Tar Heels on an outstanding win, and a complete domination of the Wildcats from start to finish. I did warn what would happen if we let them get out to a fast start, and alas, we did.”
- Over at the Leach Report, Tom Leach talks to ESPN’s Jay Bilas about Tuesday night’s game. It’s an audio interview.
- At Double The Post, they hate the new UK uniforms: “Worst Jersey on Television? Kentucky. Sorry, but it is one step away from going back to the mid-’90s—and just the thought of anything “mid-’90s” makes me throw up a little in my mouth.”
- The Wildcat Blog critiques Gillispie: “The start of the new season doesn’t bid well for Gillispie. When he first came to UK last year, I was excited at the opportunities ahead for the basketball program. Although he’s a brutal monster in the recruiting field, I’m not so convinced yet that he has the best interest at heart for the program. I’m going to throw some things out there that may upset some of you, but this is how I feel, and MOST of the time my gut instinct is right on. Ninety percent of the time. And I honestly don’t care if other people think differently or try to persuade me to think differently.”
- UK Wildcat Country looks for positive from the North Carolina loss: “Most of these positives come from the interviews that Coach Gillispie did after the game, both with BBSN and ESPN. He had a great talk about the play of DeAndre Liggins in the second half, and it definitely warrants praise. Liggins played the final 13 or so minutes of the half, had five assists (seven assists total) and only one turnover. When Liggins was running the show in the second half, Patrick Patterson got touches and scored against anybody who guarded him. When Liggins was on the floor in the second half, he put a body on Ty Lawson and did a much more effective job at keeping him out of the lane than Mike Porter did. Coach Gillispie noticed these things, and was very complimentary of the freshman. Hopefully this means the Mike Porter experiment is on its last legs.”

Hey John, I believe it actually is Bobby Perry, former Cat, on the KSR blog. I read that site often and I believe I saw a post several months back from Matt Jones talking about Bobby being a future contributor to their site.
I think it’s Bobby, as well. But you never know on the internet.
You might feel better if Matt confirmed this directly, but yes, that is the real Bobby Perry.
I’m looking forward to meeting Bobby at this summer’s KSR picnic.
I have it confirmed that it is the real Bobby Perry, which is a good deal for KSR. Ask any media member that covers UK and he/she will tell you that Bobby was one of the best and most thoughtful interviews to pass through the program.
