I hate to pass judgement on a coahing staff that has done so much with so little and even considering how exceptional Masthay has been with the kickoff and punting this season, but today was poor. It was painful and frustrating to watch and I am sure more painful to witness from sideline view. I hope this staff can learn from this and motivate the team and move forward to the teams goals.

Excuses. Excuses. Excuses. There’s nothing Coach Brooks can say to these guys and the fans that would make them believe it could have been better. You got your asses kicked all over the field and all over the state of Florida, yet you are a good team! Pathetic! Oh gosh, I’m sorry. It was Florida. Kentucky was suppose to lose this one! But, wait! Mississppi State is next week. Maybe you might be able to squeeze out a win in Starkville, but doubtful. Looks like the same ole Kentucky football to me. Time for a coaching change? Do you think it would be nice to beat Florida at least once? Probably won’t ever happen under Coach (I’ve run out of excuses) Brooks.

Under Dan’s little bit of “logic”, we should consider a coaching change for a coach who has gone 21-13 over the last two plus seasons, won two bowl games, and has UK positioned to achieve bowl eligibility with one more victory this season. To quote Guinness: BRILLIANT! Perhaps you should let go of your ankles long enough to pull your head out of that dank, dark hole in which it is now firmly lodged.

I doubt UK will ever consistently beat Florida for a very simple reason: UK fans do not see UK as a football school. Because of this, the fan base will never sustain the support level required to push UK to the level of being a national championship contender. That is where Florida is year in and year out. Most UK fans would rather see UK win a national championship in basketball than in football. So, if we have a coach who loses to Florida, but wins 6-9 games a year, I believe most UK fans will accept that.

ky will never beat top ranked schools like fla,ga,tenn, etc. because there level of play and attitude is as long as we can win once in awhile we will please the fans of ky. other schools like fla are willing to show you can win in both sports. ky football should not be just a hobby to ky basketball. its time for new blood at the top, so that at least the football program at least have a respectful program and not play on the peewee level against teams like fla.

So we fire the coaches because of the behavior of the fans? That makes no sense whatsoever. Either the fans need to expect a higher level of play, like we do from basketball, or we need to content ourselves with an occasional thumping by one of the many national contenders in the SEC. It isn’t rocket science, but it is the odd dichotomy that is college athletics, where a school is either a football school or a basketball school. It is rare that you have a school that is both, and it is usually for very short periods of time. Rather than do something silly like fire Coach Brooks (21-13 over the last two plus seasons with two bowl wins and within a win of bowl eligibility for the third year in a row), why don’t we, as UK fans, actually support football with the same passion we do basketball.

Kentucky can, and has, beat top ranked teams. Remember this time last year when LSU came into town ranked #1 in the country ?? It takes a long time to change perception on the recruiting trail. If Kentucky keeps improving a little each year they will slowly pick up better players. The kids being signed these days didnt hear Ky’s name mentioned much as winners when they grew up. Support Brooks/Phillips and enjoy the fact that at least they are playing winning ball more often than not.
