Over at cbs.sportsline, Gary Parrish predicts that Baylor will end up with the nation’s No. 1 prospect and prospective UK recruit John Wall.
The reason?
Baylor has hired Dwon Clifton, a coach closely associated to Wall, as its director of player development. Many in recruiting circles believe that means Baylor will be receiving a commitment from Wall, the 6-4 guard from Raleigh, North Carolina.
Wall is rated the top prospect in the nation by Rivals. He has been considering Kentucky, Kansas, Memphis, Oklahoma State, Oregon, North Carolina State, Texas and Baylor.
Before you gripe about the way Baylor is recruiting Wall, consider that this is the way of the college hoops world now. And Kentucky has played the same game. Mason County star Darius Miller had developed a close relationship with Illinois assistant coach Tracy Webster. So Billy Gillispie added Webster to UK’s staff, and presto, Miller committed to the Cats.

I would say that this is the way of some college programs, certainly not all.
I don’t understand why everyone is bashing Baylor! If people did enough research, they would see that they have 2 players (LaceDarius Dunn and Kevin Rogers) listed at top 40 NBA prospects this season! Not to mention, they are returning every key player from last year’s NCAA tournament team and top 25 team! Baylor had big leads in games over Texas and Kansas, so their team is capable of being a top 15 team already without Wall! Also, espn sportswriters are quoted for saying that Scott Drew should have been coach of the year for what he has done for Baylor! And if that’s not enough, Baylor has already received verbals from 5 star player Cory Jefferson and 4 star player Quincy Acy, before any hiring of coaches!
