Well said. I was one of the fans at the Georgia Dome, waiting for the game when the tornado hit, and I felt like the conference did the right thing.

“The conference tournament is about giving those teams that don’t have a shot at the NCAA tournament a second chance…”

If that’s what the conference tournament is about, then I don’t think it should be played. Clearly those teams who are already “in the tournament” are not going to put their best foot forward most of the time. Why should a team get a second chance when they’ve had the whole conference season to prove their worth?

I like conference tournaments. I think they’re exciting to watch and interesting. Georgia did the unthinkable by winning 4 games in 4 days the way they did. But, in my opinion, that doesn’t mean they deserve a shot to play in the NCAA tournament. I’m glad they are in, though, and I hope they give the SEC a boost by knocking off the overrated Xavier in Round 1.

    Go Cats!

The SEC and the Georgia Dome should be commended. It would have been easy to ignore the damage just play ball. Too bad the “right” decision isn’t also the “popular” decision.

Also, is that a picture of George Michael’s butt on your wall?

    Bruce Springsteen’s butt.

    “They did the right thing…”

“It really wasn’t an intentional foul. Gerald Boudreaux said so…”

Herald Leader sticking up for the SEC against us again.

    Shock.

I agree that it was a bad situation, but they really seemed to give Georgia the tourney….although I’ll be the first to admit that UGA was impressive.

Can’t have any fans on Saturday…why? Because UK fans would camp out and disrupt and there were security problems. Fine.

But don’t go and amend it for the next day. That was a freaking home game for UGA in the finals. That was not correct. I really thought it rattled Arkansas at first and they never could get back.

Do you think UK fans could have given 2 points to UK in their game? I guess they really didn’t need any, since Woodbury hit a 3 that was actually a 2. I couldn’t believe nobody noticed that one.

However, I agree with the first poster and hope UGA knocks of Xavier. Actually, I hope all the SEC teams rock. I’ve got State beating Memphis! I’m not sold on Ark over Indiana though. All the others I’ve got winning…including the CATS!

The SEC gave Georgia the tourney?
They made Georgia play three games in two days!

Just imagine what you would be saying if UK beat Georgia but lost the second game on Saturday…

    Hey Ralph,

I wouldn’t have cared. UK practiced game days and it was harder than a game, so, I wasn’t too worried about 2 games in a day. If you don’t think fan support helped them in the Ark. game and lack of fan support hurt State and UK the previous two games, then you’d be crazy.

UK had about 10 times the number of fans than Georgia did in that game.
Here’s what Mr. Clay wrote, “I would guess that the Kentucky “traveling party” has grown to at least 500. Georgia has about 30 people here, roughly.”

In fact, I would guess that UK had more fans at that game than Georgia had at the championship game. Maybe Mr. Clay can confirm or deny that, but that’s the way it looked on tv.

Big deal anyway. You could’ve heard a pin drop in every game, so I don’t think fans played much of a role at all.
