Games from Tuesday and Wednesday:
South Carolina 66, @Vanderbilt 64 (OT): Bad home-court loss for the Commodores. Vandy outrebounded the Gamecocks by 12 but still lost. After scoring just 24 points in Carolina’s first three conference games, Tre Kelley poured in 29, plus the winning points in overtime.
@Alabama 78, Arkansas 75 (OT): Arkansas blew a 13-point lead in the second half to drop to 1-3. Steven Hill did block seven shots for the Razorbacks, who committed 23 fouls to Bama’s 13. Ronald Steele scored 25 points for the Tide, who after shooting 53.5 percent against Kentucky fell to 40 percent versus Arkansas.
LSU 71, @Miss. State 57: Tyrus Thomas had 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winning Tigers. Thomas has grabbed 14, 9 and 10 rebounds in LSU’s three league games. Big Baby Davis hit eight of 16 shots in scoring 17 points. State did get 17 points from freshman Jamont Gordon, but also eight turnovers. Second time in three games Gordon has accounted for eight turnovers.
Kentucky 69, @Georgia 55: Cats’ 56 percent shooting on Tuesday second-best in the league this year behind the 64.6 LSU shot against Tennessee. UK’s 60 percent shooting the second half was its best in any half this season. After making six three-pointers in overtime win at South Carolina, Levi Stukes made just one of five for the Dogs against Kentucky.
